4th Global Agribusiness Management and Entrepreneurship Conference

The NOW, the NEW, and the NEXT

October 24, 2024 | Conrad Hotel

October 24 - 25, 2024 | SMX Convention Center

The GAME 2024 Conference and Expo aims to enhance the participants’ understanding of opportunities and challenges presented by the NOW, the NEW, and the NEXT in global agribusiness and entrepreneurship.

About the conference

The global pandemic brought by COVID-19 significantly altered the agribusiness and entrepreneurship landscape. On a positive note, some stakeholders across the agribusiness value chain benefitted from an increased demand in several agricultural inputs and products. On the other hand, quite a number of enterprises were adversely affected and experienced decreased demand and lost sales. And with the pandemic now under control, it is crucial for agribusiness stakeholders across the value chain to regain lost ground and build up new momentum to ride the tides of change in a new-normal world. A starting point is the scanning of the landscape – that is the Now, the New, and the Next in Global Agribusiness and Entrepreneurship.
The Now, the New, and the Next all present opportunities as well as challenges to all agribusiness stakeholders. Staying alert and anticipating things in the future as well as overcoming challenges are the keys to succeeding in what Kotler, et al. (2023) refers to as the “next curve” - the journey to 2030.
“The Now” pertains to the successes of current trends such as organic farming, urban farming, digital marketing, community-supported agriculture (CSA), farm-to-table systems, and traceability systems. “The New” encompasses emerging trends such as high-value agricultural products, alternative proteins, hybrid work arrangements, value chain sustainability, circular economy, and digital extension services. Lastly, “the Next” represents the future – technologies and business models in the cusp of being adopted in emerging economies This includes SMART farming, robotics, drones, data analytics and sensors, artificial intelligence, blockchains, Internet of Things, and lab-grown meat, among others.
This conference will serve as a platform for academicians, researchers, entrepreneurs, practitioners, policymakers, and representatives from international agencies, NGOs, and industry and farmers’ associations to identify opportunities for growth and challenges in a new-normal world. New pathways and directions for stakeholders in the agribusiness and MSME sectors can be achieved through the assimilation of knowledge and ideas, multistakeholder exchanges, and the forging of partnerships and networks.
The GAME 2024 Conference aims to enhance the participants’ understanding of opportunities and challenges presented by the NOW, the NEW, and the NEXT in global agribusiness and entrepreneurship. Specifically, the conference targets to: gather together key stakeholders in the agribusiness and MSME sectors; share the opportunities emerging from the NOW, the NEW, and the NEXT in global agribusiness and entrepreneurship; Identify possible interventions and areas of collaboration and complementation for the recalibration of the agribusiness and MSME sectors.

Agribusiness Expo

The GAME 2024 Agribusiness Expo stands as a vibrant showcase of innovation and progress in the agricultural sector, highlighting a spectrum of cutting-edge technologies and ventures from the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research (PCAARRD) and Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (PCIEERD), alongside various industry players.

This dynamic event serves as a platform for agribusiness enterprises, support agencies, start-ups, and aspiring student ventures to converge and present their contributions to the advancement of agricultural practices. Attendees have the opportunity to glean insights on the current and future trends of agribusiness, foster connections with industry experts, and gain a deeper appreciation of the agricultural sector in the country.

Parallel Activities

  • Exhibit

The focal point of the technology expo is an exhibit to be joined by various agribusiness stakeholders. This encompasses agribusinesses, startups, government agencies, and academic institutions, with a specific emphasis on the pivotal contributors to PCAARRD’s Regional Agri-Aqua Innovation System Enhancement (RAISE) program, recognized as pioneers in agri-aqua technology business incubation (ATBI) initiatives and PCIEERD’s Higher Education Institution Readiness for Innovation and Technopreneurship (HEIRIT) Technology Business Incubators.

The primary goal of the activity is to showcase the innovations of TBIs from across the
nation and serve as a networking opportunity to attract potential partners, investors, and customers. Apart from the opportunity to showcase and network, exhibitors can also market and sell their products during the expo.

  • Technology Pitching

A live technology pitching will also be conducted during the agribusiness expo. This 3-5 minute opportunity allows innovators to present their products or solutions to a diverse audience. The pitch will cover how the innovation addresses specific challenges, the benefits it offers, and its competitive advantages over existing market solutions. The technology pitchers participating in this session will represent exhibitors taking part in the expo. A panel of judges will evaluate the pitching presentations and outstanding presenters will be recognized in the event.

  • Poster Presentation

Innovations generated by the participating exhibitors can also be creatively showcased through a
poster presentation. A visual material such as a poster is a concise and quick way to relay what an innovation is all about the audience. The generated posters by the participants will be displayed all throughout the agribusiness expo and all outputs will also be evaluated by a panel of judges.
